Here are some frequently asked questions.  If you do not see your question below, please contact us so that we may address your question and possibly add it to the list below.

Can you make custom colors or patterns for your wire?

We can make any color or combinations / pattern of colors you like.  Depending on the color or style of wire you would like, there will be certain minimum required for a custom order.  Most custom colors can be manufactured in as little as 3-4 weeks.  There is no additional charge for custom colors and pricing will be in line with our wire collections.  Please contact us for additional information.

What's the difference between Cotton, Rayon, Raw Yarn and Linen?

It really comes down to the look you are trying to achieve.  Cotton, Linen, and Raw Yarn provides a matte finish whereas Rayon has a silkier shine finish.  Aesthetically, cotton, linen, and raw yarn's matte covering is more appropriate on appliances and utilitarian lighting. Rayon, with its silk-like shine, is ideal for more elegant lamps, radios, phonographs, etc.  With regard to durability, all of our coverings wear very well over time.

I don’t see what I am looking for, can you get it for me?

Just because you do not see a specific product does not mean we do not have it.  We are also a custom lighting design and fabrication shop and have many items that we use in our day to day production that we do not list on our website (yet).  Additionally, we are also able to source any item you require for your project.  Please contact us for more information and assistance.

Do you offer any other types of Fabric Covered Wire?

While we only stock electrical wire, we can also manufacture Fabric Covered Coaxial Cable, Fabric Covered Telephone Cable, and Fabric Covered Ethernet Cable in any of our current colors/patterns as well as any custom color/pattern of you like.  Please contact us for additional information and quotation.

Can you recommend a wire for my DIY product?

For liability reasons, Vintage Electric Supply can only recommend styles and colors of wire for your project.  We are not able to recommend a wire gauge or wiring instructions (other than in our DIY Kits) and suggest you consult a qualified electrician to ensure that the gauge of the wire you select can safely support the electrical load of your lamp or small appliance over the length of wire you are using.

Are your products UL or CE listed/recognized?

All of our products are either UL or CE listed/recognized.  Please refer to the individual product specifications for information.  All of our wire is designed and suitable for lighting and small appliance use and can be approved by inspectors. 

Do you offer B2B or wholesale pricing?

Yes we do.  Please visit the B2B section of our website or contact us for additional information as we would need to know specific information regarding your business as well as purchasing volume and frequency.

Do you offer expedited shipping?

Yes, please contact us prior to ordering so we can arrange payment for our rush delivery methods.

Do you ship internationally?

Absolutely!  We ship our products internationally and have many happy customers all over the world.  Please contact us if you do not reside in the US so that we can quote you and accurate shipping price based upon the size of your order and its destination.  Please note that on all international orders, the customer is responsible for all additional charges (Taxes, Duties, Customs, Carrier Surcharges, Import Fees) as you are importing merchandise into your country and subject to your government’s rules and regulations.   All international orders are Final Sale and any defective items will be exchanged for the same item only.

Where do you manufacture your products?

We manufacture all of our own products and have facilities in both Italy and China.

Do you offer free samples of your wire?

Unfortunately, we do not send free samples.  There is a cost to samples as it is time consuming to pull a master roll of wire and cut a 6” piece.  If you are interested in specific samples, please contact us so we can understand the nature of your request and get a better understanding of what you are looking for and help you decide on a selection.  In the event that you need a sample(s), we will gladly send you samples for a nominal charge.

Can you email me information about new wires, products, and sales?

You can keep informed of current sales, promotions, and new products by following us on Facebook and/or subscribing to our newsletter.  You can subscribe at the bottom of our homepage.  We will not bombard you with emails and only send relevant information when there are new products available or if we put products on sale, and you can unsubscribe at any time.
